Girls Rock the Capitol

Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains is currently seeking Girls Rock the Capitol volunteers to help run the program in Montpelier.  This program offers an opportunity for girls between the ages of 15-18 to spend time with State Representatives learning about the inner workings of the state government at Montpelier.  Volunteers will be responsible for administering our Girl Scout curriculum and attending all days at the Capitol.

The volunteers will work closely with the Special Programs and Events team.  Responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate and run Girls Rock the Capitol program for selected participants
  • Facilitate the implementation of the Girls Rock the Capitol curriculum, assuring it is in line with the It’s Your Story—Tell It! journey during 6 day trips (9am-4pm) to the State House between January 2014-June 2014 including one overnight in either April or February, specific dates TBD
  • Coordinate mentors and girl participants in the program in the VT State House of Representatives, including visit schedules
  • Attend all 6 day trips with the girls to the State House, including all supervision of the girls and maintaining the schedule of the program
  • Finalize, assist, and attend the retreat for participating girls November 29-30, 2013
  • Attend and help to coordinate the State House Tour Program run by the Girls Rock the Capitol girls on Saturday June 1, 2014
  • Assist the girls in the completion of their Take Action project and getting their Dream maker or Sisterhood award

Qualified individuals will have a high level of commitment, knowledge of the legislative process, and be willing to take the initiative.
