The Center for Cultural Pluralism would like to welcome you all back to campus! We have a wonderful semester ahead with a new Social Justice Film Series (SJFS) and four upcoming exhibits in the Allen House Multicultural Art Gallery.
The theme of the Spring 2014 SJFS is Color-blind / Color-bind, which offers participants an educational opportunity to explore through film and subsequent discourse issues of race, its invisibility, limitations and the privileging of certain racial identities in society. The films screened include Anomaly (1/29), One Drop Rule (2/19), Somewhere Between (3/19), The Fall of Womenland (3/26) and White Like Me (4/9), and campus collaborators for the films include the Black Student Union, the Women’s Center and Allied Faces.
The Allen House Multicultural Art Gallery will be exhibiting work from graduate student Catarina Campbell, a multi-artist mixed-media exhibit about powerful women sponsored by the Women’s Center, work from undergraduate Adam Vindigni, and an exhibit featuring the masks from the Women of Color Leadership Retreat as curated by UVM staff Vanessa Santos Eugenio.
